    What is TIFF file format?

TIFF stands for Tagged Image File Format. The TIFF file extension is known for its high image quality and support for both lossless and lossy compression. It is used for storing high-quality, lossless raster graphics and image data, making it the preferred format for designers.  A TIFF file can be opened by double-clicking, which prompts it to be opened in the default image viewer, like Preview or Windows Photo viewer.

    Why Convert TIFF Files?

The following are the reasons why TIFF files can be converted to other formats.

    1. File size – Because TIFF files are mostly uncompressed, it makes them larger than other formats. Therefore, users convert TIFF files to JPG or WEBP, which significantly reduces file size.
    2. Better web compatibility – TIFF files are not supported by the majority of the websites and online platforms. Therefore, converting them to PNG, JPEG, or WEBP makes the images more accessible online.
    3. Easier sharing – Due to their large sizes, users prefer converting TIFF files to JPEG or PNG to facilitate file distribution.
